Online Tech Achieves New Data Center Standard

Online Tech Data Centers recently became the first company in Michigan to achieve SSAE 16 Type II certification.

The SSAE 16 Type II standard replaces the popular SAS 70 standard, and Online Tech achieved the recognition in its Ann Arbor and Mid-Michigan facilities.

Achieving the new standard verifies that the hosting company’s facility is highly secure and reliable as per some of the most comprehensive data center audit and evaluation guidelines.

To a certain extent, the company’s success in getting its data centers certified can be attributed to its efforts to get all of its Michigan-based facilities SAS 70 Type II certified just a few years ago. This made it easier to upgrade equipment in server racks and other important features to meet the new standard’s demands.

Mike Klein, president of Online Tech, said the company is embracing the new data center standard.

“We believe these new audit standards will further differentiate data center operators by the quality of the service they deliver,” said Klein.

Achieving data center standards certification can help foster growth. Recently, Phoenix NAP announced new expansion that the company attributes, in part, to its ability to provide services that meet SAS 70 Type II and Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard certifications.
