Apple Energy LLC: New Company Will Sell Excess Energy
Apple has recently rolled out its new company, Apple Energy LLC, which has the primary goal of selling excess energy generated by its renewable energy plants. The company generated this excess electricity at it solar farms, which are located in California, Nevada and North Carolina. Apple LLC is headquartered in Cupertino, CA, and it plans to sell its excess electricity throughout the United States.
Apple Energy LLC will initially sell electricity to power companies at wholesale prices, but it may eventually sell at retail prices. This new energy company may also have the ability to sell excess energy to homes and businesses, if it continues to increase its energy generation and seek the proper approvals.
Documents requesting permission to sell its excess energy were filed on 6/6/16, with the intention of being granted approval within a 60-day period of time. The new energy company anticipates that as the prices of renewable energy continues to decrease that it will increase its ability to earn even greater profits. Until then, Apple Energy LLC plans to continue to increase its excess energy production, in hopes of enabling others to take advantage of lower energy costs, as well as gain access to more sustainable energy. While the solar farms are currently producing a great deal of excess energy, it has been determined that larger grids can be utilized so that even more energy can be generated.
Apple’s long-term goal is to power all of its facilities using renewable energy, and although energy use has increased in its data center in North Carolina, this technology guru claims the energy is 100% renewable. According to Apple spokesperson, this renewable energy consists of electricity produced in its own solar farms, combined with other renewable energy purchased elsewhere.
Apple Energy LLC isn’t the only technological advancement that Apple has planned in the near future. The company is currently working on developing electric cars, which includes the development of charging stations to power the vehicles. This company plans to continue to be on the cutting edge when it comes to technology, because not only will it benefit the company itself, but it will eventually benefit consumers and businesses worldwide.
